British Mandate: A Survey of Palestine

Official document for the years of 1944-1945 prepared by the British Mandate for the United Nation Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) prior to proposing the 1947 partition plan.

These three volumes contain a wealth of information on Palestine until the end of 1946. They cover all sectors of life, such as population, land, economy, immigration and more.

Since many Zionist myths – Palestine portrayed as an ’empty country’ and Jews making the ‘desert bloom’ – are still prevalent in the West and Israel, we find it important to share with the general public. We hope that historians, students, and journalists find it useful.

It should be noted that data pertaining to populations, landownership, and land use has been extracted from another important British Mandate document called Village Statistics.
